Keeping your kids safe and healthy is our number one priority. For 2020, we will be running camp in accordance with CDC guidelines and Governor Murphy's recommendations in order to ensure that all of our campers have the best possible time creating and learning, while also staying safe during the epidemic. Here are the steps that we are taking at Chic Squad to minimize risk:
VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON CAMP
This year, summer camp will take place both virtually and in-person. Virtual instruction and challenges will take place over the course of June at 4-6 pm every Thursday. Newer designers will have three hours of classes in advance to help bring up their skills. The supplies needed for these challenges can be picked up from Victoria's home at the beginning of June. Supplies include a mannequin, fabrics, and other necessary materials (families must supply their own sewing machine).
OPEN AIR CLASSROOM
The in-person portion of summer camp will be held from July 6-10 from 10 am to 2 pm. We will be working outdoors, and each camper will be given their own 10'x10' tented workspace to enforce social distancing. If masks are required at that time, campers will be required to wear masks.
If it rains, camp will not be held and will be postponed to the following week, Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17.
SOCIALLY DISTANCED SWIMMING
Campers will be able to take a break to swim in the pool in groups of four at a time at any point in the day. We will have a counselor supervising the pool to ensure social distancing.
VIRTUAL TRIPS AND GUESTS
As we do every year, Chic Squad will be bringing in a guest artist to teach the campers about new and unexpected topics. This year, we'll be hosting our guest artist virtually on a video chat. We'll also be taking our annual field trip virtually this year—keep an eye out for details soon!
